Viscose fibers have played an important role in hygiene products for many years due to their natural properties such as absorbency, softness and skin-friendliness, and their role has become even more pronounced as the demand for environmentally friendly solutions increases.
Until now, most hygiene products have been made from synthetic fibers, designed for convenient single use. But the downside that comes with this convenience is a lot of waste. Unfortunately, a significant portion of this waste ends up in our waters and into the ocean, causing one of the most serious environmental hazards of our time. The ocean plastic pollution we cause not only threatens the habitats of many animals, but microplastics also enter our food chain with unprecedented consequences. Unlike fibers of petrochemical origin, viscose fibers are made from renewable raw materials and are biodegradable after use. Replacing synthetic fibers in hygienic applications with biodegradable fibers means being more environmentally friendly.
