Biodegradable Nonwove

Aug 09, 2023
The increasing environmental concerns over the use of disposable plastic bags have led to a rise in the demand for nonwoven shopping bag manufacturers to offer eco-friendly alternatives. Nonwoven fabrics made of biodegradable fibers are a much better answer than the plastic ones that are harmful to the environment and are an excellent alternative for those who wish to make a difference and change their habits to be more environmentally conscious. Biodegradable nonwove can be made from a variety of fibres, such as cellulose, polypropylene, cotton and polyester. However, each type of fabric has its own unique characteristics and advantages.

For example, cellulose fibers have a high level of moisture absorption, which makes them an ideal choice for non-woven bags for hygienic use. This fabric is also soft and air permeable, which ensures the user's comfort while carrying the bag. In addition, this type of nonwoven fabric can be made from natural fibers and has the added benefit of being biodegradable and compostable.

Nonwoven fabric produced from cellulose fibers has been shown to be highly biodegradable. Studies have found that cellulose nonwovens degrade in soil and activated sewage sludge. The biodegradation of the cellulose nonwovens is related to the degree of crosslinking in the polymer chain and the presence of other functional groups. This means that if the nonwoven fabric contains a high percentage of crosslinks, it will have a higher resistance to biodegradation than a low-crosslinked product.

Another type of non-woven fabric that is biodegradable is made from jute. The jute nonwoven has been shown to provide the microclimate necessary for seedlings to grow in a jute mulch, and to help the soil retain nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. The jute nonwovens also help to protect the seedlings by blocking the sun's rays.

Spunlace nonwoven is another biodegradable option. It is produced from recycled polyester and a variety of plant-based materials. This fabric is also a great choice for the environment, as it can be recycled many times over without losing its integrity. It is a versatile material that is ideal for producing bags, clothing and more.

A variety of fabrics can be made from the biodegradable nonwove, such as woven sacks, laminates and spunlace. These fabrics are made from a mixture of fibres and then bonded together with a thermoplastic material such as polylactic acid (PLA). PLA is a sustainable, plant-based plastic that can be used in place of petroleum-based plastics. It is also eligible for European standard UNI EN 14126 and EN 14605 certification and complies with current legislation that regulates the compostable materials field. It is an excellent choice for a wide range of applications and can be customized to meet specific needs. It can even be used in medical applications. This fabric is also suitable for sanitary napkins and baby diapers. The biodegradable nonwove can also be incorporated into other materials, such as felt, cotton wadding and recycled textiles, to create an entirely new product.
